Part artist, part crazy scientist, with a dash of wondering philosopher
Hi, I’m Sara! I am an interaction designer with a multidisciplinary background in HCI, biodesign and business. I explore the convergence of user experience design, biology and engineering to design next generation products, systems and experiences that are technologically innovative and ecologically sustainable.
I have an M.S. in Integrated Digital Media (HCI + biodesign) from New York University (2020), and a B.S. in Marketing (2012).
For the past four years, I've been working on projects focused on sustainability, future of food and bio-digital interfaces. And prior to that, I practiced human-centered design for over five years, working on a range of digital products.
I believe in the power of change making through community. As a bio-community organizer, my goal is to bridge the communication and collaboration gap among biologists, engineers, artists, designers and the communities they aspire to assist. I currently serve on the Biodesign Challenge alumni board, and as a Global Community Bio fellow and organizer, actively working to facilitate more opportunities for interdisciplinary conversation and collaboration among the two communities.
My philosophy:
As a utopian futurist, I believe that we can leverage science and technology to create a symbiotic world, where every human being can reach self-actualization, while nature is respected and preserved, and where we measure greatness by our positive contribution to the world.
Besides creating and philosophizing life, I enjoy music -such as Bach, Chet Baker and Radiohead- solitude in nature and fantasy films.
note: I believe we are responsible to create the change we want to see in the world. In an effort to contribute to positive social impact, I dedicate a portion of my time to offer design consultation to causes that align with my values.
